THE RIBEIRO JIU-JITSU ASSOCIATION

Rolker Gracie - Royler Gracie
Xande Ribeiro - Helio Gracie - Saulo Ribeiro

A Brief History of BJJ - Helio Gracie, the patriarch of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, adapted the traditional Japanese sport form of Jiu-Jitsu into one of the most successful types of hand to hand combat available today. Gracie's objective was to adapt the technique to become more reliant on leverage, timing, and technical skill. This modification allowed a smaller or weaker person to defend themselves against a larger or stronger attacker. With the knowledge that most physical confrontations end in a clinch or on the ground, this art has become one of the most effective self defense systems in the world.
